No Undo in Google Keep App ! Lost All Quotes

I have been using Google Keep since a year or more. I was scrolling through my records of last year and I found a collection of Quotes I had created from time to time, that reflected the events in my life and my take on those events. As I was going through them, I realized they were a long list of quotes, so I thought of write a post with those quotes just like my other two posts.

I tried to copy them and BOOM!

Accidentally one key got pressed and everything got wiped out, it got replaced by P ! (I might cry now). I am thinking to archive all my notes and then uninstall this app. I will try to check some other app with better backup features.

Those quotes were so inspirational if only I had strong memory, I would retrieve them all for you guys. In normal scenario, I would have retrieved few of them, but the thought of losing entire collection is getting over my head. F*@K ! What did I just do ! The lose I cannot repay ! I lost all the clarity I gained with my experiences. I remember them, they are part of my life now, but reading them brought back every single memory. Now my memories wiped out in a moment. The collection of entire 1 year, with a single touch, cleared everything off. I cannot talk any more on this. A BIG LESSON LEARNT. Deal your precious items very carefully.

I will talk about all the good things in Google Keep in some other posts, but for now given such an amazing app built by Google and in market since so many years, there should be a basic operation such as Undo for sure. Otherwise it is strictly not to be used for valuable records. It is a BIG NO ! Sad. Very Very Sad.

  1. Such an annoying little feature, Ctrl and Z just doesn’t work?! Baffling that Google has not fixed this as I have looked and peopel have been complaing about it for years.

  2. I’m sorry for your lose, however there would’ve been one way around if you had reacted quick. Since Keep has things in Cloud, immediately after text is gone, you could have Turn off internet in your phone, that deleted text doesn’t reflect to server. Hope my input helps someone…

  3. There’s a recycle bin in the app that you can try and also, what I do on the online (desktop) version is let everything load, control+a to select all (or cmd+a on a mac) and then choose ‘copy to google docs’ from the options list (the 3 dots).

    I repeat this for the ‘archive’ section of notes too. This effectively backs up all my notes.

    You might be able to shoot google an email or go on the forum(s) and someone may be able to recover lost data, but this is unlikely I guess.

  6. You didn’t lose the clarity, you just the physical evidence of it. Doesn’t take away from the realness of you discovering you, that stays inside you forever. Google Keep is just an app. “Me Keep” is you keeping with all the inspiration you found. Software engineers, Google or otherwise, could never create something like that. You did, you do, and you will continue to do so. Marianne

  7. I wish I could say or do something to cheer you up, but I’m afraid I can’t. I’m really sorry for your loss. Maybe you can try writing to the Google Service Desk or something, ask them if their system maybe did create an invisible back-up? I can’t believe it’s all gone like that. After all, it IS the internet. Maybe it’s still flowing somewhere.

    • I checked all options, if only I was on Laptop, it would have helped. I am on Mobile 😥

      Can’t do anything and now they are locked. It’s gone forever ! Those quotes are with me in my life I wouldn’t need them much. But the aggression with which those quotes were written, they reflected what I went through and how I dealt with few things, now they are all gone ! I am gonna cry like a 16 year old girl losing her love 😥
